New Social Media Platforms:

Video Platforms: Facebook Live and Periscope:

  • The main live streaming platform should be Facebook Live.
  • Incorporate library Periscope into what Ed Warga from Vanderbilt Libraries said about Periscope usage, which is, don’t advertise in advance, don’t keep beyond 24 hours, use the same hashtag for each Periscope event, and use for a very specific purpose.
  • The simultaneous usage of both platforms should only be used for very special events.
  • Editing/repackaging videos should be done sparingly because Facebook Live has a shareable link, has an embed code link, and can be edited within the Facebook environment.
  • Keep on using live streaming videos as a free way to market the library and to allow current social media fans to enjoy a different type of FB post beyond the usual photos and texts.

LibGuide Blogs:

  • Library's Platform Blog will be used for new books. They will be added and sorted by division/topics.
  • Individual guide Blogs are up to the guide owners. Some librarians may wish to feature books or develop blogs on library materials for their subject guides.

Q: How will Primo integrate into eLearn and LibGuides?

Social Media Pathways

Sharing promotions via Twitter populates Twitter Feed on the Exhibit Monitor and the Library's Webpage. Twitter and blog posts, feed into Facebook.

2017-2018 To-Do List: Research Social Media, Marketing  and ADA Compliancy.

TBR Libraries and colleges have been discussing ADA as it relates to assignment, subject and campus guides. We adapt what we learn to our social media and marketing.

Here are some guidelines to consider.

  1. If a flyer is shared in social media and it has dates, times and details of events on it and it is a jpg…repeat the event details in the blog post.
  2.  Shared images, need a tag, if possible or describe it in its caption.
  3. Provide an accessibility statement. View the disability.gov website's Accessibility Statement.
  4. Review Improving the Accessibility of Social Media in Government at https://digital.gov/resources/improving-the-accessibility-of-social-media-in-government/.

ADA and Social Media research to consider:

  • Using Social Media without violating FERPA
  • Using Social Media with ADA Compliancy
  • Using Social Media in Emergency Situations

Oct 21 2015 - Domain Names for Chatt State

Marketing has purchased a variation of domain names which can be used in conjunction with advertising, emails or the website to measure the effectiveness of our marketing efforts that we can share with you.

Marketing has established campaign urls for spring enrollment, TN Promise and TN Reconnect which will be used in the following advertising sources:

  •          print
  •          online ads
  •          billboards
  •          website
  •          facebook
  •          twitter

Another example of using a spring enrollment campaign url would be:

If your department is sending emails and linking to a specific area on the website, we can create a campaign url that will track user engagement of ChattState's website.  This data may be useful in determining the effectiveness of the email.

For more information about domain names, campaign urls or measuring advertising effectiveness, please contact Hunter Longley
