Library Marketing & Outreach with Community Practice: High School Outreach

Statement of Purpose: The purpose of the library's outreach to Early College students is to provide information that orients students, parents and various high school professionals to library services, library collections and student support materials. The library's main marketing goal is to support our high school students in finding and utilizing both print and digital resources that enhance their academic knowledge base, increase their awareness of the world, and nurtures their interest in college and/or vocational careers. Our purpose is fore-filled through various media methods including two websites, social media, and event invitations.

Goals

• to increase student awareness of library collections utilized in Early College courses by digital access.
• to provide online access on information literacy instruction tools and library collections to high school librarians and Early College instructors through the KLIC Library website.
• to provide information literacy instruction and support to HS librarians through monthly meetings and the HCDE Librarian Institute.
• to provide students with library spaces for student study groups, individual study, and multimedia project creation.
• to teach Information Literacy to Early College, Collegiate High, STEM School Chattanooga & visiting 8th Grade student groups on the Chattanooga State Campus. Provide Information Literacy Instruction and Orientations.
