Israel Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole (1959-1997), also known as "Bruddah Iz" or "IZ," was a musician and Hawaiian sovereignty activist. His 1993 album Facing Future was the first certified platinum album from Hawai'i and includes a version of his most popular song, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World."
