Disappeared of Charles and Anne Lindbergh’s son Charles Augustus Lindbergh, Jr. at 20 months on March 1, 1932, around 9 pm. A ransom note was found on the same night as the disappearance.

Mary Cecilia Rogers

The disappearance and later murder of Mary Cecilia Rogers on July 28, 1841, as her body was discovered in the Hudson River. Ms. Rogers’ story really was a big deal because this news was published in multiple national newspapers adding hype to sensitization. Her story was fictionalized by Edgar Allan Poe as The Mystery of Marie Roget published in 1842.
